Conociendo la mítica Ruta 40

The full name is National Route N 40 "General Liberator Don José de San Martín".

It is a tourist route that crosses the entire Argentine Republic in parallel to the Andes Mountains, and goes from Cabo Vírgenes (Santa Cruz) to the city of La Quiaca (Jujuy) to the border with Bolivia.

Route 40 is the longest in the country, it crosses several national parks, it crosses several of the tourist regions and important attractions.

In total, it travels 5194 kilometers, crosses 21 national parks, 18 important rivers, connects 27 mountain passes and rises to almost 5000 meters (at km 4601) in the Abra del Acay in Salta, making it the highest route in America , and also the highest in the world outside the Himalayas.

The 5117 km of extension, are distributed throughout 11 provinces as follows:
1324 km in the province of Santa Cruz, 619 km in the province of Chubut, 148 km in the province of Río Negro, 677 km in the province of Neuquén.
677 km in the province of Mendoza, 363 km in the province of San Juan, 268 km in the province of La Rioja, 311 km in the province of Catamarca.
65 km in the province of Tucumán, 402 km in the province of Salta, 263 km in the province of Jujuy.
